Signs You Have Developed Aggressive Periodontitis

Posted on 8/10/2020 by SRD Tuscumbia
Signs You Have Developed Aggressive PeriodontitisPeriodontitis is advanced gum disease. Gum disease occurs when bacteria form around the gum line and teeth. These bacteria feed off the remnants of food left behind after we eat. In most cases, you can slow the growth of this bacteria by brushing and flossing regularly. However, it's still possible for bacteria in your mouth to survive a good brushing. That's why it's important to come see us every six months for a dental cleaning.

Gum disease starts off with slight irritation in the gums. Early signs of gum disease are swelling, redness, and bleeding of the gums. Gum disease advances quickly and causes many problems. As it advances, you will notice increasingly more severe symptoms. These symptoms are easily recognizable, so keep an eye out for them whenever possible.

Symptoms of Advanced Periodontitis

One of the most common symptoms of advanced periodontitis is pain. Pain is never a good thing when it comes to your mouth. The pain from periodontitis stems from the gums, and you may even feel it in your teeth. Other signs of advanced periodontitis are loose teeth and tooth decay. Advanced periodontitis is dangerous to your oral health because it destroys gum tissue. Gum tissue, unlike the other tissues our in our body's, can't regrow on its own. Once periodontitis destroys gum tissue, there is no way to get in back. If you notice red marks or open wounds around your gum line, it indicates advanced periodontitis.

Though you may be experiencing periodontitis, you can still recover from it. There are many treatment options for gum disease, and we're here to help you. Please contact our office or stop by for a visit if you think you're showing signs of gum disease. Periodontitis can't heal on its own, and you'll need the help of a professional.
