Signs Your Root Canal Did Not Correct the Problem

Posted on 9/21/2021 by SRD Muscle Shoals
Signs Your Root Canal Did Not Correct the ProblemRoot canals are complex treatments, and because of their hardness and your mouth's sensitivity, sometimes they can fail and not correct the problem it was meant to fix. There are specific signs which indicate that there were complications with the root canal, and most likely, the canal will need further treatment.

Symptoms of Root Canals Not Fixing the Problem

Along with persistent symptoms, which called for needing a root canal, there are additional signs that something is continuing to be wrong. These signs are characterized as discomfort, increased sensitivity, swelling, discolorations, or sinus problems, to name a few. You'll notice that these seem to be the same symptoms as any other type of tooth issue outside of the discoloration. This is why it is important to return to us the moment that you begin to feel anything off or different from what you were told to expect.

What Happens Now?

There are a few options to consider, but regardless of what is chosen, you must receive further treatment because the inside pulp of your tooth cannot clean and heal itself. This means it requires treatment from professionals. One of the most common ways a failed root canal is handled is removing the tooth and the insertion of a temporary crown until a permanent crown can be installed. In other cases, we may decide that your best option is to have only the root of your tooth partially or fully removed and replaced with a new seal.
